Windows 2008 Server agent

Introduction

Microsoft is planning to release the Windows 2008 Server operating system during Q1 2008.  Assuria has been developing an agent for the Windows 2008 Server environment.

Windows 2008 Server Assuria Auditor agent

Assuria is currently testing an all new Assuria Auditor agent for Windows 2008 Server (W2k8). 

Microsoft Windows 2008 Server introduces new features and facilities and the new Assuria Auditor includes relevant check for new W2K8 features.

The new Assuria Auditor W2K8 agent includes all of the relevant checks from earlier Windows agents and new checks / policies / features for the W2K8 features and facilities.

New Assuria Auditor W2K8 agent features and facilities include:

• Roles and Features. New baselines allows system administrators to record which applications and tools have been installed on a system using the new W2K8 roles and features interface and apply their standard security practice accordingly.

• Broker baseline – This baseline records privilege escalation policies which may have been installed on the server

• Integrity Levels added to freezer file baselines and relevant checks

• Additional IE, Active Directory, Firewall and profile checks

Any Assuria Auditor Customer or Partner that is currently testing Microsoft’s BETA release of Windows 2008 Server and would like to test the new Assuria Auditor agent on W2K8 should contact w2k8@assuria.com to register interest in a BETA Release of the Assuria Auditor W2K8 agent.

Assuria’s current plans are for a BETA release of the new agent in late January 2008 and the General Release version of the W2K8 agent should be shortly after Microsoft’s release of W2K8.
