Introduction |
This
Assuria Bulletin announces the availability of XPU 53, which introduces
new internal features to Assuria Auditor.
This XPU is
fully compatible with the Assuria Auditor and ISS System Scanner range
of products, and is managed by the Assuria Auditor Console (formerly ISS
System Scanner Console). |

Transition
to Assuria |
Assuria and ISS have been working closely together on a 12 - 18 month
program to achieve the seamlessly transition of ISS System Scanner
customers to Assuria and Assuria Auditor.
XPU 48 introduced the first
feature that was a result of the transition program and subsequent
updates have added further underlying features.
Assuria will be generating
Licence keys for customers in the future and XPU 48 introduced Console
support for Assuria generated licence keys in addition to keys generated
by ISS using the ISS WOS system.
XPU 49 –> 53 have introduced
Console and Agent support for code, check and policy signed by Assuria
in addition to ISS. |

The next
steps |
The final
piece of this process is X-PressUpdate.exe - the XPU download /
installation program.
Assuria’s
plans are that a new version of the XPressUpdate.exe will be available
in mid December 2006. This version is currently undergoing extensive
testing by Assuria. |

The Users
view of X-PressUpdate.exe transition. |
The Users view of this
final step will be:
- Users will receive
notification of the availability of a new XPU via an Assuria Bulletin.
- Users will initiate
XPressUpdate.exe in the normal way to obtain the new XPU and will
receive a message to say "A new version of XPressUpdate.exe is
available, do you wish to download this new version".
- Users should respond
“Yes” the new version of XPressUpdate.exe will be downloaded and will
then replace the current ISS version and restart a new Assuria version.
- The new
XPressUpdate.exe (Assuria AutoUpdate) program will automatically 'point
at' the Assuria AutoUpdate Web site and will ‘search for’ and download
the latest XPU from the Assuria download area.. Note that XPUs / X-Press
Updates are to be called AutoUpdates by Assuria.
- Users will install the
Assuria AutoUpdate onto their Console with no change in normal process.
Subsequent AutoUpdates
will be downloaded from the Assuria AutoUpdate area by the Assuria
AutoUpdate.exe and will require no further or special action by Users. |
